Andrea Rodr铆guez Nu帽o

For Andrea Rodr铆guez Nu帽o, 天美传媒 was the perfect higher education choice due to the proximity to home, affordability, and access to resources.

Andrea graduated WVC in 2018 with an Associate of Arts degree and now works as an immigration paralegal at Harrison and Pai, PLLC, in Bellingham, Washington.

Her current role allows her to support immigrants seeking legal status in the United States. 鈥淚t鈥檚 incredibly rewarding," she shares. "Helping people navigate the complexities of immigration is a way for me to give back and make a meaningful difference."

Andrea credits WVC for helping her build a foundation for her future. 鈥淲VC gave me a sense of community and the skills I鈥檝e carried with me throughout my life鈥攔esearch, writing, public speaking, and perseverance.鈥 One of her biggest challenges was struggling with math, but with determination she overcame it. 鈥淚 never gave up, and it showed me that anything is doable, no matter how difficult.鈥

One of her favorite memories at WVC was serving in the Associated Student Body (back when it was called the Senate). 鈥淚 loved putting together events for students and working with the staff," she recalls. "I met so many people and learned skills I still use today.鈥

Her advice to current students is to focus on the present and believe in their journey. 鈥淚t doesn鈥檛 matter where you come from but where you鈥檙e going. Life throws hurdles your way鈥攁cademic, economic鈥攂ut you can do it. As a first-generation student, I had to overcome many challenges, but nothing is impossible if you seek out the help available to you.鈥
