Nurse Week Recognizes Excellence May 6-12

NCW Nurse Week Committee is proud to acknowledge the nurses of North Central Washington for their commitment to excellence. This year鈥檚 Nurse Week will take place in conjunction with the National Nurse Week from May 6-12.

Events during the NCW Nurse Week include:

  • May 9, 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wells Hall Theatre, WVC campus: 鈥淚s the Count Correct鈥 workshop by Lori Linenberger, Washington Health Professional Services.
  • May 10, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Red Lion Hotel: Continuing education workshop by Peg Tobin, RN, author, and President of Tobin and Associate. She will present on the topics of 鈥淢aking a Difference-Being Me,鈥 鈥淎c 鈥榗ount-on-me鈥 ability,鈥 and 鈥淒elegate or Suffocate.
  • May 10, 4 to 5:30 p.m., Red Lion Hotel: No-host networking mixer presented by the 天美传媒 Alumni Network will be held prior to the Nurses of the Year Celebration.
  • May 10, 5:30 to 8 p.m., Red Lion Hotel: Nurses of the Year Celebration with keynote speaker Peg Tobin, RN, author and President of Tobin and Associate, and recognition of local nurses.

  • Rachel Smith, RN, for Excellence in Clinical Nursing
  • Amy Daley, RN, for Excellence in Community Care
  • Secrett Simmons, RN, for Excellence in Education & Mentorship
  • Leeza Thomas, RN, for Excellence in Leadership
  • Debra Vandegraft, RN, for Excellence in Management
  • Jon Gleason, RN, for Excellence in Volunteerism

Proceeds raised during the Nurses of the Year Celebration provide scholarship opportunities for local nursing students and nurses pursuing advanced degrees. The application can be found at or available at the banquet.
