The public is invited to free educational Arbor Day events at 天美传媒 on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All events will be outside, weather permitting. Participants should meet at a table at the west end of the fountain area on the Wenatchee campus.
Retired USFS silviculturist Connie Mehmel will explain how to measure the height and diameter of trees on campus in order to determine carbon storage. WVC Professor Jennifer Hadersberger will then lead a walking tour of campus, highlighting the diversity of tree species and sharing fun facts about trees.
WVC is in its seventh year of certification by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree Campus Higher Education, which requires a tree care management plan and various tree-related projects or events.
Contact Dr. Joan Qazi, jqazi@wvc.edu, for more information about the event. To learn more about WVC鈥檚 sustainability efforts, please visit www.wvc.edu/sustainability
